Privacy Policy
ClaimKeeper helps you track out-of-pocket healthcare expenses and submit claims to your HSA or FSA. It is built so that your records stay on your phone. This policy explains what the app does with information, in plain terms.
Summary
- Everything you enter, including receipt photos, is stored only on your device.
- We run no servers and keep no copy of your data. There are no accounts and no analytics of ours.
- Receipt text is read on your device. The scanning component may send anonymous performance metrics to Google (see “Third-party components”).
- You can delete everything at any time from Settings.
Information the app handles
| Information | Where it lives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Expenses you enter: amounts, dates, provider, category, the person the expense is for, notes, claim status | Your device only | To keep your ledger and remind you about claims |
| Receipt photos you attach or scan | Your device only | To keep proof for your claims and to read amounts, dates and provider names |
| Plan details: plan name, type, claim deadline | Your device only | To tag expenses and warn you before deadlines |
| Settings, reminder preferences, and whether Pro is unlocked | Your device only | To run the app the way you set it |
We do not collect names, contact details, health data, location, identifiers, or usage data. We never see your records.
Device permissions
- Camera and Photo Library: used only when you choose to take or attach a receipt photo. Photos you attach are copied into the app’s private storage. The app does not browse your library or upload photos.
- Notifications: used for local reminders about unsubmitted expenses and claim deadlines. Reminders are scheduled on the device; no notification service of ours is involved.
Receipt scanning
Text recognition runs on your device using Google ML Kit. The photo is not uploaded to read it. You always review the result before anything is saved.
Third-party components
- Apple processes the one-time Pro purchase through the App Store under Apple’s privacy policy. We never receive payment details. Apple tells the app only whether Pro has been purchased.
- Google ML Kit (on-device text recognition). Under Google’s ML Kit terms, the component may send anonymous performance and usage metrics about the recognition API to Google, and may fetch model updates. Receipt images and recognised text are not included. See Google ML Kit Terms.
No advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting services of ours are included.
Exporting and sharing
When you export a claim packet, the app builds a PDF on your device and hands it to the iOS share sheet. Where it goes from there, such as a mail app, Files, or your HSA portal, is your choice and is governed by that service’s privacy policy.
Storage and security
Data is stored in the app’s private container on your iPhone and is protected by the device’s encryption and passcode. Your iCloud or iTunes device backup may include the app’s data, under Apple’s policies. We recommend keeping a device passcode enabled.
Your choices and deletion
- Edit or delete any expense, receipt, or plan in the app at any time.
- Settings → Delete all data permanently removes every expense, plan, receipt photo, and reminder from the device.
- Deleting the app removes all of its data from the device.
Because we hold no copy of your data, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete on your behalf.
Children
ClaimKeeper is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. Material changes will also be noted in the App Store release notes.
